Built from Passion, Grown with Purpose
After spending time farming abroad and travelling extensively, I returned home in 2022 with a clear goal in mind. Having worked with sheep in Lesja, Norway, I had developed a strong passion for the industry and decided to build something of my own in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
We started small, purchasing 120 Dorper breeding ewes and two commercial rams. From those early days, St Joseph's Farming has grown steadily and purposefully. Today, our Dorper operation consists of around 600 breeding ewes, with a long-term goal of reaching 2,500.
Our focus has always been on producing top-quality lamb. We aim to supply local supermarkets with consistently high-grade lamb carcasses, and everything we do is geared toward achieving that standard.
We run an intensive system, bringing all our animals into sheds at night. This allows us to inspect each animal daily, ensuring the health, condition, and overall wellbeing of the flock are always maintained at a high level.
As the business has grown, so too has our commitment to quality. We have continuously improved our flock by investing in better genetics. Today, all our breeding rams are sourced from Mickey and Ashley Phillips, ensuring we are working with some of the best genetics available. This results in stronger, healthier, and faster-growing lambs.
In addition to our commercial operation, we also sell breeding rams to the public. Whether you're looking for a replacement ram or aiming to improve your flock's genetics, we are proud to offer quality animals backed by proven bloodlines.
